Hi,

I’m Jelena, a freelance art director specialising in branding, visual identity creation, and retouching. I split my time between New York City and the mountains of Montenegro, focusing my time on curation and content creation for an international array of award-winning photographers, magazines, and agencies.

I’ve been consulting for New York strategic design agency noformat for the past five years, working across their client projects as an art director and retoucher, and am the resident curator and retoucher for fine artist Reka Nyari.

As a curator, my interest lies at the intersection of art, design and media, supported by 15 years of experience and formal study spanning a variety of creative disciplines, from photography and painting to calligraphy and graphic design. My current focus is on photographic exhibitions and coffee table books, with recent curatorial projects including (RE)IMAGINE in Stockholm (postponed until 2023), Antarctica by Joann Mcpike, and Geisha Ink by Reka Nayari Nyari.

I believe taking the time to understand the objectives and aspirational goals of each project results in memorable visuals, where details entail meanings and design choices create value. A combination of passion and genuine interest in the companies and people I work with leads to timeless branding solutions that are distinctive and carry a minimalist elegance.

I partner with brand strategists, video production companies, graphic designers, copywriters and web developers as needed, in order to bring my art direction projects to life.
